Textual Meta-function of a Public Service Advertisement—A Systemic Functional Approach

The three meta-functions of Systemic Functional Linguistics have occupied the mainstream for a long time in the field of linguistics and have been widely applied in various disciplinary fields. This paper focuses its attention on theme and cohesion to make a detailed analysis of texual meta-function on a public service advertisement to arouse readers’ attention on poverty, thus proving that the systemic functional linguistics can be an effective way to guide analysis of public service advertisements.
