Fosters accountability and desistance, not all relationships are beneficial. Some network members, particularly those linked to prior criminal behaviors, may perpetuate recidivism. Offenders often actively distance themselves from harmful influences while valuing prosocial connections. This study emphasizes the importance of evaluating both positive and negative network dynamics and highlights the need for targeted interventions that enhance constructive ties. These findings provide valuable insights for policymakers and practitioners aiming to leverage social networks to improve rehabilitation outcomes.
