Abstract

In one form or another, alienation dominates modern literature. This article aims to study alienation in Katherine Mansfield’s short story Miss Brill existing in the relation between people and the relation between people and their heart and feelings. Further, it analyzes the severe consequence of alienation on the protagonist’s recognition of the world and her psychology. Lastly, it attempts to find out the causes that brought about alienation, which might be enlightening to modern people who easily fall prey to alienation.
